This was the first HP 38E made in Hewlett Packard’s Singapore Factory.

It was presented to Mr. Hon Sui Sen (his name engraved on the top of the calculator) in 1978. This calculator is currently on display in National Museum of Singapore on loan from the Hon Family. The accompanying display plate wrote, This was the first calculators produced in Hewlett-Packard (HP) factory in Singapore, an appropriate gift to be presented to Hon, the Minister of Finance. HP Singapore started its operation in April 1970 in the Redhill Industrial Estate."
