You can get batteries for your HP-80 at
http://www.internationalcalculator.com/batteries.html.
The cost is $39.00ea (exchange). You must send them your old battery and they will send you a replacement. I´ve used them for several years without a problem.
I purchased my HP-80 when they first came out in 1973 and have used it since that time. I love it and have never found another calculator that can match it.

get a 3 pack battery for a portable phone, and solder in the connections, being careful to put the red wire to the plus, and black to the minus. These ni-cad batteries are what I have used for years.
In reply to BillM: Is it possible to obtain a new rechargeable battery pack for HP-80 calculator?

You can purchase a 3 battery pack for a portable telephone, and simply solder the appropriate + to the Plus connection and the same for the minus. These are inexpensive batteries, and a cheaper way to go.

Bill,
I hope the link below functions. I purchased a very nice HP-80 on Ebay that didn´t include a battery. In visiting the HP Museum website(http://www.hpmuseum.org/), I was referred to this gentlemen who has been making batteries for vintage HP calcs for many years. Below is a link to an ebay site that was used for purchasing his batteries.
I purchased my batter, and after charging it for the recommended time, have been using the calculator almost everyday.
Hope this helps.
