Unless I´m missing something, the 49 and 50g´s don´t have quadratic regression built in. You´d have to downgrade to the HP9G, which has an unacceptably tiny lcd display. I have no idea why HP markets the way it does. I´m going to have to shelv the 50G and get a TI-83 so my son can use it for his calculus class.
In reply to J. Bird:
I am having problems getting a quadratic regression to work on my hp49g+. The regression works great as long as all of the x values are greater than 0 otherwise it returns an error (invalid sigma Data ln(0)). I have not been able to get this to work, am I doing the regression the right way, thru STAT/Fit Data/Power Fit, or is there another way to do it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I recently purchased a hp49g+ to repalce an old 32sII. The 32sII had a PARTS & FRAC function anda PARTS and INT function that i used in a simple decimal to FT-IN program I have. I haven´t been able to find a similar function on the 49g+. These are helpful commands as i use the calculator to convert a lot of dimesional data from drawings. ANYONE seen these comands on the 49g+????

There are a number of survey packages available from the HP website, these are free - http://www.hpcalc.org/

There are also good programs, in Australia there is a good program called Quickclose, can be purchased over the internet.

If my chance you know of a survey package that accounts for a south azimuth i´d been interested.

cheers

assistance required – LIBRARY on the HP 49G+

I have been trying to install a program however at error of "STO ERROR : Object in use Library 999 : EXP21" is displayed. This is referring to the evaluation product that had been installed and then removed.

It seems to me that i need to clear my library? I thought that by performing a ROM upgrade that this might do the job but no, i still get the same error message regarding Library 999 and as a result the installation is not completed.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
Clare

Hi! Keypad problem on 49G+: After using HP32S and 48G for long time, I have bought the 49G+. Great calculator, but the keypads/buttons works badly. Sometimes the calculator do not enter the number, though i felt the "click" when I pressed. Seems that there are not secure corelation between the "click" and an electrical contact in the button. Very annoying that one should press slowly and hard on the buttons, to enter numbers correct. I went to the dealer and he exchanged it with a new one. Unfortunately the new one has the same fault! Has anyone else had this problem??? Does HP have a general quality problem here??

Unfortunately the HP49g+ has a terrible reputation for its very poor keyboard. HP don´t seem to be aware of or care and keep selling it to unsuspecting customers. If you want more info on the history of this go to the comp.sys.hp48 newsgroup where 1 in 10 posts is about this problem. Sorry to give you bad news but this problem has put me off buying the calc despite everything else about it appearing to be very good.
