With the 12-C turned off, depress and continue to hold down the decimal key. At the same time turn the 12-C on; this should swap the characters.
In reply to freda:
Can anyone tell me how to get back my decimal point? I somehow now have a comma where the decimal should be. When I enter a large number, the comma is where the decimal should be and vice versa. I have had my HP12C for almost 30 yrs and don´t have the manual anymore. I can´t live without this calculator! It´s the best!

Please help. I have a question that asks me to compute YTM but I´m not given the bond price. All I have is 5 years, 8% coupon, 8.21% current yield and face value of 1,000. How do I calculate this on my computer. The only instructions I could find on this also give the present value.

If you want to earn 1,350,000 on an investment of 1,590,000, you have to first deterine the FV of your investment. In this case, add the amount you want to earn (1,350,000) to the amount of the initial investment (1,590,000) using the following key strokes (1,590,000 ENTER 1,350,000 +) to give you 2,940,000 then use this as your Future Value and place it in to the Future Value register by pressing FV. Enter 10 into the n register for the number of years and input 0 into the PMT register. Then enter the Present Value of your investment with the following keystrokes (1,590,000 CHS PV). From there, all you have to do is solve for the interest rate by pressing the i key. You should get a result of 6.34.
In reply to Rob:
Would someone please provide keystrokes for the following problem: What interest rate would be required to accumulate 1,350,000. on an investment of 1,590,000. over 10 years?

Enter purchase price into PV, enter the interest rate then press blue key then the "i" key, then enter Zero for FV, enter the length of the loan in years then press the blue key and then the "n" key. When you press PMT you should have your monthly payment amount.

In reply to ellie:

Does anyone know how to find out what the principal balance is at year 5 of a 30 yr amortization?
In reply to Dave Allen:
Hi, switch the 12C off. Hold down the decimal point and switch on again. This toggles the display between the point and the comma.
